I just read that there’s going to be a show about Rudolf Nureyev on WMHT on Wednesday night.  It sounds like there’s going to be some footage from when he was a very young dancer – before he defected. I’m going to watch it and hope that you’re able to catch it also.Here’s some info from WMHT’s site:

I learned so much at the NYC Dance Teacher Conference! The written materials and my notes helped me recall all that was covered. I plan to incorporate some great strengthening excerises into the Balletone classes. Wait until you see the ab work and exercises to improve turnout! I’ll try to add new things at each class to make class more interesting.  I’m anxious to see what everyone thinks.

Here I am waiting for ballet class with David Howard. It was awesome! His combinations really challege your mind and body by constantly changing the movement and timing. He gave us a copy of the combinations, so I’ll be able to share them in upcomig classes.

I also took a session on common foot problems. I learned about some techniques for stregthening the ankles, improving your arch and prevent pronating/supinating. In another session Eric Fraklin shared info on imagery in dance. It’s amazing what the mind can do. More tomorrow.

This website has been fun to create. Of course it never would have been possible without the help of my son and my husband. Both of them are constantly answering my technical questions and I keep nagging my husband about taking photos for the site.

All my students and friends have been very supportive and have offered a lot of feedback.   I’m slowly incorporating changes based on the wonderful suggestions.

Now I’m adding this blog. My goal is to share things about dance/fitness that I learn from conferences, classes, books and videos.  I always include that information when teaching, but this is a new way of sharing. I hope it’s useful!
